This week Rm 12 are doing science and we did " The Milk into Stone "

To do this you will need:

Ingredients:

- Milk

- White Vinegar

- A Bowl

- A Cup

- A Microwave

- A Spoon

- Some Paper Towels

- A Sieve

Step One - Put a cup of milk into the microwave for 30 seconds. 

Step Two - Pour it into a bowl then add a tablespoon of white vinegar. 

Step Three - Stir briskly until it goes clumpy. 

Step Four - Tip it into a sieve until there is a blob left.

Step Five - Tip the blob into a paper towel and make sure it's really dry. 

Step Six - Take the blob out of the paper towel and put it on a plate. 

Step Seven - Mould the blob into whatever shape you want. 

Step Eight - Wait a couple of days for the milk to turn to stone.

Camp Recount

SPLAT! I jumped into the pool. It was so loud. I paddled around a bit, then I just got bored. I went outside to lie on the ground and stare up at the sunny sky. Then I heard screams and shouts. I got up and went around the side of the building. THE MUDSLIDE! I ran up to have a closer look. Awesome! I got in line it looked so fun. Finally I was front of the line. I was quite nervous. I didn't want to jump on the slide like most people because it might hurt, and it was my first go. So I got on it. WHOOSH! I went down and embraced myself for the mud at the bottom. PLONK! I was at the end! I ran back up the hill and into the line. "That was surprisingly tiring" I thought. My second go I jumped on the slide it didn't hurt after all. But it was still so much fun! Beau's Mum grabbed the hose and hosed us off it was so cold.

The komodo dragon

The komodo dragons have been around for millions of years. “I sure would’ve liked to live that long!”.

The komodo dragon, the largest living lizard in the world, is found in the Indonesian islands of Komodo, Rinca, Flores and Gili Motang.

The komodo is the only lizard species to hunt and kill prey larger than itself and larger than it can swallow whole. There are two glands in the lower jaw which produce several toxic proteins. The komodo relies on it’s patience skills and the camoflaging of it’s skin. When their prey enters the preferred spot the komodo dragon pounces on their prey with powerful legs and sharp claws, then sink their jagged sharklike teeth into them. Then they follow their prey for up to three days to witness the poisonous bite kick in. The victim will then have a slow and probably painful death. The komodo will then go and feed on it. Did you know the komodo would usually eat up to 80% of body weight in a single feed.

The komodo dragon has a wide, flat head and a rounded snout. They have a huge muscular tail and bowed legs which give them a clumsy back and forth walk. Their tongues flick in and out constantly. Adult komodos can reach about three metres long and weigh about 70 - 140 kilograms.

If I Were a Storm Poem

If I were a storm......

I would eviscerate the land and be the worst figure ever known to man.

I would crash and burn and rumble and crack.

I would blend up their home with a strawberry or two.

But luckily this time I won't rip up my town I think I would probably just go back to Mars instead.

Getting my Cat / Recount

Stomp! Stomp! Stomp!

I ran through the open doors of the pet store. I could smell the sickly smell of cat food, I could almost taste it. I went up to the cat section and said 'AWWW!'. Then I screamed 'MUM!'

Mum came trotting round the corner in her high heel boots. We both stared at the cat for some time then figured we would call her Roxy, next she walked up to me and winked. After that they put her in a box and we put her in the car, she kept trying to stick her paw through the holes and it worked so I pretended to shake her paw like I had met someone new. 

When we got her home, she walked up to me silently and jumped up on my lap to cuddle into me. Her claws were sharp pointy pins. I'm so glad I got her! She is going to be a great member of my family!

Oh and if you don't know what a recount is it is a past tense story so I have had my cat for about three years now!

This is a picture of my creation for the public to feed the lions. You can just put some meat on the roller and then when it gets to the end, it will flop on the ground and the lions can eat it!
