Writing- Expositition

This is the conclusion of my Exposition writing.

I believe that Richie McCaw is the better leader because he has been an awesome team captain and is very kind towards other teams. He is confident and supportive and is a great public speaker. Richie has captained 58 tests with 51 victories and has also held the Webb Ellis cup twice for NZ. He is also very calm when the All Blacks lose a game. In my opinion Richie McCaw is the better leader.

Excellence Evidence: Tabloid Sports 1

Yesterday we had Tabloid Sports, the Deputy Head Boy and I did the opening speech. Then everyone went off and started doing the activities, I was one of the few people who got to go around and help everyone with their activities and give out posies.

First I fill up a few buckets of water so people could participate in the water activities. After that I went around giving out posies to people who didn't give up and tried there best.

Then I joined in a few activities; all of the senior classes were paired up with junior classes. I joined my class and got a little buddy that I helped understand the game and encouraged if they thought they couldn't complete a task.

After a while we started finishing up, I took part in the closing speech as well. We didn't have anything planned so we had a small disscussion then said that. After that it was lunch time so we all had a nice picnic lunch outside.

The leaner quality I showed was communicate because I communicated with the Deputy Head Boy to make up a closing speech.

I showed leadership by helping the juniors when they were stuck and encourage them if they thought they couldn't achieve their goal.

Excellence Evidence: Kapa Haka 1

Today I had Kapa Haka, I am now in the performance group. We started practicing the school song. We had to do it over and over until everyone knew all of the actions. We had to go through them without the song a few times because some people forgot a few different actions.

After that we practiced Hallelujah, there are not many actions in Hallelujah. At the start only four people are singing, then about midway through the song all of the girls come in. Then at the last part the boys come in. Then we sing the song again. While we are singing the song we all walk forward up to the four people who sang at the start, so we are all singing together.

After that Kapa Haka finished but Mr Brown let the year eight girls stay and practice long poi. It was really hard at first, but then I kept trying and got the hang of it. I was able to show a few people how to do it. It was really fun because we were all teaching each other how to achieve different techniques. I'm still learning but with enough practice I hope I'll be able do it.

The leaner quality I showed was resilience because even when the long poi was really hard, I kept going and didn't give up.

I showed leadership by helping others when they were stuck learning long poi.

Excellence Evidence: Deputy Head Girl 2

On Monday we had a leadership meeting, first we just quickly went through what stage everyone was up to with their goal. The four heads are doing a poster competition so we said that we have started running it have announced it and are going to put information about the guidelines in the newsletter.

Then the four heads went off so the Deputy Head Boy and I could practice our speech with an audience. The we stood up and used a microphone (turned off) so it would seem real.

We kept practising over and over till we knew it off by heart. Then we went back and listened to the teachers talk about how tabloid sports was going to be run and what's going to happen. We had to all talk about different things we were going to do.

The leaner quality I showed was communicate because I communicated with the the Deputy Head Boy to make sure the speech was right.

I showed leadership by contributing to the tabloid sports discussion.

Excellence Evidence: Kapa Haka 7

Yesterday I had Kapa Haka. I was in the Apprentice group because I wanted to learn the songs before I performed on stage. First we went through the school song, since I joined Kapa Haka I've learnt the actions.

Then we did the Maori version of Hallelujah a couple of times. We sang it without the words on screen this time and I remembered them from last week. I really like the Maori version of Hallelujah.

After that Mr Brown told us that it was our last chance to join the performance group. I really wanted to join so I did. We sang the school song and did the actions. We had to practice heaps because there was a new action to learn. At first I got really confused and went the wrong way but after a while I learnt it and knew what to do. I helped my friend do the actions because she was a little stuck as well.

The learner quality I showed was Resilience because when I didn't know the actions but I kept trying and then I learnt them.

I showed leadership by helping my friend when she was stuck.

Excellence Evidence: Deputy Head Girl 1

Today we had a leadership meeting, we talked about balancing responsibilities. We had to read a chapter from a book about leadership and watch a video, (Balancing Responsibilities) the video talked about three different things to remember when you are trying to balance responsibilities:
1. Ask friends for help
2. Prioritizing
3. Focus on the objective
The video also gave us some task to do like stand on one foot so we could know what it felt like to balance many responsibilities.
Then we had to create a google document and answer some questions. Here is the link to mine.

The learner quality I showed was communicate because I communicated with my friends to answer the questions on my google document.

I showed leadership by contributing to the class discussion and helping out my friends.

I can describe mean, median, mode and range.

I can describe mean, median, mode and range.

Mean: Add all your numbers and divide that by how many numbers you have.

Median: The number in the middle, put your numbers in order from smallest to largest.

Mode: The number you see the most out of the group of numbers that you have.

Range: Start with the highest number and subtract the lowest number from that.
